Tamdhu 15 Year Old

Nose: Fruity and sweet, the nose starts off with a rich fruitcake note. Raisins, honey, vanilla, fig jam, orange peel, and red apple. There’s a touch of salty creaminess in the background, like salted caramel. With time, I get hints of dried persimmon and leather. The orange peel note becomes more Fanta-like.

Palate: Measured arrival with a silky mouthfeel. That fruity note carries onto the palate, along with apple, orange peel, toffee candy, and some earthy spices.

Finish: A medium, warming finish characterized by apricot marmalade, fig jam, and hazelnut chocolate.

Final Thought: I’ve got several whiskies from Tamdhu — the 12 Year Old, the 15 Year Old, and a few Batch Strength releases. In my opinion, Tamdhu 15 Year Old offers the best value for taste among these expressions! The Sherry influence is well-integrated. It adds some sophistication without being overpowering. An option worth trying if you find Sherry funk off-putting.

Girl with Cask Strength Score: 87/100.
